Casein Intolerance

I finally got Ethan to the dr for his second round of bloodwork. He has been diagnosed with a cow's milk protein intolerance- Casein intolerance/allergy. He was originally tested for a milk allergy, which came back negative. That particular test is done routinely and tests for lactose intolerance. We just knew that his milk was causing the problem, so we did a protein test this time instead. And it showed he definitely has an allergy to the protein in cow's milk. It can cause several symptoms, and they can get much worse if untreated.

Today I went to Walmart and Whole Foods to get all new non dairy staples. And this became a very trying and frustrating task for me. There is dairy in almost everything! I had to read so many ingredient lables... and had to read them carefully because some of them are a little tricky and do not plainly say- NON DAIRY on them like you would expect or want.

I am praying and hoping you will as well, that this can be an easy transition for our family. I am having a difficult time focussing and realizing this can be done. It is going to be a very costly diet and we really can't afford a lot of extras right now. We have full confidence God will work this out so that Ethan may be more comfortable and have a much happy life! I am also slowly going to move Kinsey to this non dairy diet as she is showing a lot of the same signs Ethan is. So just pray both kids take to the diet and we can easily stick with it.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!

On another quick note, Ethan is doing GREAT with potty training! He now tells us he needs to go and hasn't peed once in his underwear. And when he needs to be in a pullup- road trips/naptime.. he never pees in it!!! Im soo grateful! My little guy is a big guy now, turning 3 in 3 more weeks!

Tubal vs Vasectomy

We are officially DONE. This will be my 3rd csection and final baby. We are just trying to decide what to do about it. Lol.

Since I am having a csection-do I just go ahead with the tubal.. while they are already in there??

Or does Devan go a few months after the baby comes and get the vasectomy so I don't put myself at a greater risk of infection, longer recovery, more pain? (all possible, not necessarily going to happen).

We are going to talk to our OB at our next visit to see what he suggests. From what I have read online, I'm still pretty confused! I have read both sides and read lots of stories from other women's experiences.

I am guessing we are just going to have to decide and go with it! So be praying we make the right choice for us!

Big Girl

We finally turned Kinsey's carseat forward facing this week!! She went to the dr last week and she was 19lbs 8oz so I figured she is close enough and most likely even closer to 20lbs now. How exciting! She just loved it! (sorry no pic, I need to get one).

The flu was definitely at our house!

I am finally feeling better!! yay! I have had the flu since Tuesday when I started getting some chest congestion and a cough. Wednesday I got a very sore stomach and went to the dr to see why it was hurting so bad. My OB didn't know... but check the baby, and we heard the heartbeat pounding away!! So we were both feeling better about that. By that night, BAM I was sick. Thursday and Friday are kind of a blurr.. I got on Tamiflu and locked myself in the basement. Devan stayed home and took care of the kids upstairs for me ;) Fortunately, nobody else got sick!!! Praise the Lord! Today I am just feeling a bit congested and still sneezing some, but feeling much better. These past few days I haven't had a chance to think about the baby, ..... but today he/she remi nded me they are there! I have my full bladder back in action ;) Thanks little one!

13 weeks now!!!! yay. I go back for my next appt on November 2oth and we will schedule my gender sono at that appt. Can't wait to find out if we have a boy or a girl in here!! then the name game will begin. And yes, we are taking suggestions!

We are alive!

Been a while! Here are a few updates on what we have been doing.

Ethan- got a viral infection of some kind last week. He woke up on Wednesday morning throwing up and very ill. He was immediately very pale white and was only throwing up yellow bile. He was not moving much at all and just slept. He slept til Friday morning pretty much. He only woke to throw up or drink his pedialyte. We took him to his pediatrician Thursday afternoon, but left with no answers and a popsicle. Sunday afternoon he was complaining that it hurt to pee and that his pee pee hurt. So I took him to minor care since it was Sunday, but he didn't have a UTI. They said it was probably irritated from peeing such consentrated pee from being so dehydrated. Its Monday morning and he seems about 100% :)

Kinsey- got an ear infection a week ago and seems to have recovered well. She is doing great all day and seems healthy. Then she decides in the middle of the night to wake often and scream until we get her. And she doesn't seem to have a thing wrong with her.... so let's hope this passes quickly!

Baby- I am 11 weeks now. Got to see the baby at 8 weeks 4 days... just a tiny thing! I go back in 2 weeks for a checkup. I am already a bit uncomfortable... can't eat as much at meals, having to pee tons, and haven't slept much in the past week. But things seem to be going well!

Devan- finished his latest project at 21st and Webb- a retirement living. And is now in Andover at Central and Andover Rd. Its another retirement living type facility and he is putting up a trailer and starting to work there this week. We are so blessed he did not get laid off with all the cuts his work made recently. We are so grateful!
